Refrain collects nothing.
Refrain is a personal app that shows you one saying at a time. It has no account, no server of its own, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. This page explains, in plain words, what that means.
What stays on your phone
- The sayings, including any you add or edit.
- Which sayings you have marked as favorites.
- Your reminder times and whether reminders are on.
This information is stored only on your device, in a private storage area shared between the app and its Home Screen widget so both show the same line. It is not sent anywhere. If you delete the app, it is deleted with it.
What we never collect
We do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, usage statistics, device identifiers or anything else. There is nothing to sell, share or lose, because nothing leaves your phone.
Notifications
If you turn on daily reminders, Refrain asks iOS for permission to show notifications and schedules them locally on your phone. No notification passes through any server. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in iPhone Settings.
Sharing a line
When you share a saying as an image, the image is created on your phone and handed to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there is entirely your choice and is governed by the app you share it to.
Children
Refrain is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect it to.
